Three Day Retreat at Eden Rise in Devon, UK
July 11-14, (Thursday-Sunday), 2024
This long weekend together, will be a time to share friendship, silence, and explorations in the nondual perspective.
During the morning session we will welcome our direct experience and let it reveal its palpable un-nameable nature. Layers of suffering that seem to keep us separate from the totality naturally surface.
There are times in each of our lives when a bitter wind blows our spiritual torch out. It may be called depression, grief, trauma, illness, the end of a relationship, a sense that we are no longer in alignment with our deepest self. Here we are, standing at the threshold of our being, knowing that nothing we have used to light the way forward will work.
We will venture together, away from the certitudes held by the mind and into the dark wilderness of the body. We will listen inwardly to our felt experience. Perhaps we will face and taste the unconscious layers of defence, that portent to protect us yet keep us in a cell of false security. Along the way, held traumas find open pathways, tensions touch the possibility of relaxation, stories find fresh formulations, expression is liberated, and we may discover the effortless movement of healing.
Perhaps we will touch the vulnerability and strength of Life as she cycles and connects us to the great garland of creation.
Our particular focus is our body, allowing it to be our mirror and our pathway, sometimes our prayer, and sometimes our cry and ultimately the shining expression of our shared essence and unique individual shape.
There will be an early morning silent meditation with Pranayama and a late-morning 2 hour long session. The afternoon will be free to go to the sea, sauna, river, forest, or rest, following the whispers of your heart. There may be another session in the evening depending on the natural flow of the group…or time together around a fire, sharing songs, stories, dancing and silence.
Vegetarian food will be served by a local catering company. The accommodations are very simple which allows us to keep the prices down.
Can you hear the invitation whispered
to wait, open, still, silent,
and to find yourself in an invisible sanctuary carved out of the offering you make of yourself
moment by moment…

Meet Ellen
-
Ellen’s deepest intuition was confirmed when she met her teacher, Francis Lucille. In his presence, she recognised the eternal, limitless and universal nature of our shared reality. Over many years, her understanding deepened to touch all levels of experience. The process of aligning and stabilizing all aspects of her life to this understanding has continued to unfold since then. As a child Ellen loved to move and dance. She knew without words the joy and limitless transparency that the body dissolved into when it was free and alive.
As an adolescent and young adult, she acutely felt and enacted suffering through her body. Thus, the experience that we call the body has always been central to all of Ellen’s experiences, both in the ignoring and in the recognition of our true nature.
Today, Ellen offers meetings and retreats in The Awakening Body, sharing a direct exploration of reality sourced in the tradition of Kashmir Shaivism and self-inquiry as transmitted through Francis Lucille and his lineage. In addition, she has a private practice as a Psychotherapist, and facilitator of Authentic Movement. Her background of Dance-Movement Therapy and Transpersonal Psychology is shaped by the non-dual understanding.
